This Week in The Cauldron August 29 – September 4

Hey Y’all,

Thank you for joining me for my weekly planning session. First off, a recap of last week.

I planned to write 10,000 words on my first draft of Whining in Wolfland along with working in the yard, meeting friends for a happy hour, and reading. I wrote 11,200 words, so congratulations to me. 🍾 No yard work or reading happened. Boo! I’m thrilled about the word count, but I need to pick up the slack in other areas of my life. Now for what I’m mixing up in the cauldron this week:

Writing Plans

My goal is 12,500 this week. A lot of my words last week were on plotting so this week I want ALL THE WORDS to go to the first draft. And I found this nifty page that not only lets me make a plan for my writing, but it will even embed a precious little tracking widget on my website. So you can follow along and see if I’m managing to stay on track or not. My plan is to be 80,000 words into the draft by October 31st. 🤞 If you like tracking things – it doesn’t matter what – check out pacemaker.press.

Not Writing Plans

Yard work. Ugh. I have to buy the plants, and plant the plants, and pull the weeds. Again, ugh.

Travel! Yay! I leave Friday for a hiking trip to Italy. Since I’ve been having trouble with my ankle, there may be more wine and cheese tasting writing happening than hiking, but you never know. Yes, you do. You totally know what I’ll be doing. 🍷🧀

Shopping. Eh. I need to get some shopping done for the trip. How much shopping takes place will depend on the word count.

What I’m Reading

Yes, I’m reading my own books. Despite creating a series bible (a document that has all the major information about the books), I realized when I was plotting that I still had questions and things I needed to double-check.

Thought for the Week

What are you afraid to fail at?

That’s it for now. Time to start writing.

Happy Reading!
