2023 Reading Goals Poll

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

Hey Y’all!

How is your reading going so far in 2023? Each year for the last few years, I’ve set a reading goal, and I’ve hit it all except one year. As I got ready to post about the number I’m aspiring to this year, I started wondering how many of you set reading goals. So I thought I’d put out a poll to see.

Scroll through the options and then click on the picture that corresponds with the number of books you selected for your 2023 reading goal. And if you aren’t into setting a goal, that’s an option too. Keep scrolling if you want to see my number for 2023.

I’ll post the results on the blog and Facebook next week.

My 2023 Reading Goal

I’ve picked 100 books for this year’s challenge.

I’ve set my reading challenge at 100 books for 2023. I set the goal in Goodreads, log the books I’ve read, and it keeps up with the number. And I count everything – paper, ebook, and audiobooks.

If you set a goal, let me know in the comments how you come up with the number. Also, do you count audiobooks in your books read for the year total?

Psst! If you’re on Goodreads, friend/follow me there so we can support each other in reaching our goals this year. JCKeough on Goodreads.

Happy Reading!

This Week in The Cauldron August 29 – September 4

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

Hey Y’all,

Thank you for joining me for my weekly planning session. First off, a recap of last week.

I planned to write 10,000 words on my first draft of Whining in Wolfland along with working in the yard, meeting friends for a happy hour, and reading. I wrote 11,200 words, so congratulations to me. šŸ¾ No yard work or reading happened. Boo! I’m thrilled about the word count, but I need to pick up the slack in other areas of my life. Now for what I’m mixing up in the cauldron this week:

What’s Happening in the Cauldron August 22 – 28

Hey Y’all,
Thank you for joining me for my weekly planning session. This is what I’m mixing up in the cauldron this week:

Writing Plans

My goal is 10,000 words this week on what I hope will be a 100,000-word first draft – give or take 5000 words. I try to write Monday through Saturday, so that will be about 1700 words a day. So, it is entirely doable, if I just sit down and do it. šŸ˜Š

August 8 – 14, 2022

Hey Y’all,

Thank you for joining me for my weekly planning session. This is what I’m mixing up in the cauldron this week:

Writing Plans

I’m plotting Whining in Wolfland, the next book in THE LARAMIE HARPER CHRONICLES, and I’ll be writing the blurb (book description) to share with you sometime this week. I didn’t plot a jot before writing my first novel, Dying in Dallas, because I had the complete story ready and waiting in my noggin.Ā

Spoiler alert: I did not.

What I’m Reading – June 2020

What does Genre Fluid mean? Simply stated, I read a variety of genres. Mystery, thriller, paranormal, romance, urban fantasy, regular fantasy, fiction, or non-fiction—it makes no difference to me. I also read ebooks, old fashioned paper books, and I consider listening to audiobooks as reading.

Corrupted Soul by Amanda Twigg

I LOVE this series. This is book two and I can’t wait for book three to be released. Landra lives in a world where warriors and magic are at odds. Her father is the head warrior and her ultimate dream is to become a warrior, but she has magic. 😬

If you are looking for a book to completely take you out of your reality and plop you down in another, this is it.

Check it out at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk depending on where you live.

The American Agent by Jacqueline Winspear

I love books, especially mysteries, where you learn something along the way. The Maisie Dobbs series follows Maisie Dobbs (surprise!) in England as she solves mysteries in the years between World War I and World War II. In the first war she served in France as a nurse and the series starts with her recovering from her injuries and reconciling herself to the fact that her fiancĆ© will never recover from his. The American Agent is the 15th book in the series and follows Maisie into the blitz on London during World War II. If you like history with your mysteries, the Maisie Dobb’s series is for you.

Check it out on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk depending on where you live.
