January Books, Books, Books!

Happy 2021!

I know, I know, the less said about 2020, the better. And I’m a tad superstitious. So I don’t want to talk about how amazing I think 2021 is going to be, either. I don’t want to jinx us.

If you’re like me, now that the holidays are over, you are tired, broke, and looking for a quick escape. With that in mind, I’m only promoting free books and stories this month. Imagine that! I’m not flogging anything this month’s installment of Books, Books, Books. Except, of course, my own books and I’m always flogging those – hint, hint.

January’s FREE Short Stories and Books

These short stories and full-length books are being offered by their authors for free. You’ll have to enter your email address to get a download link, but you can unsubscribe from the list anytime you feel like it.

Check out Sure Shot Fantasy Giveaway

Sure Shot Fantasy Giveaway runs for the entire month of January. Click on the picture to find your fantasy.

Dinner with the Delaneys

My short Story, Dinner with the Delaneys, is included in the promotion, but you can also pick it up here.

Are you afraid you’ll jinx things by talking about them, or do you believe that the more you talk about good things the more likely they’ll be to happen?

Happy Reading!

December, Books, Books, Books!

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

Well, it’s that time of the year . . .

Decorations are up, relatives show up, and pants’ sizes go up. Or maybe that last part is just me? I don’t know about you, but I find the holidays stressful. And nothing de-stresses me faster than a good book. Since it is better to give than to receive, I want to share these promotions with you.

Happy Friday the 13th!

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

Or, “Happy Remember the Templars!” day, as I like to call it. This is a veiled reference to my home state’s call to arms –”Remember the Alamo!” And what do the Templars or the Alamo have to do with Friday the 13th? Stick with me for a moment and we’ll get there. FYI – I’ve added in pictures of Temple Church in London, a Templar church that dates back to 1185, just to liven things up a bit.

Bats On My Walk

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

So, this isn’t my usual post, and with the clock ticking on NaNoWriMo, #ishouldbewriting. But I wanted to share some video footage with you of bats on my walk last night.

I’m not sure which came first – my interest in vampires or my fascination with bats. 🐔 or the 🥚? Either way, I was thrilled to find that when we move to Ireland we were surrounded by bats. Literally. Last night I was able to get some footage of the bats on my walk.

Fair warning, the quality of the video isn’t that great due to the time of evening and the low light.

Enjoy!

P.S. – if you aren’t a bat person, keep scrolling.

Are you a bat person or not? Let me know in the comments.

NaNoWriMo November

by J.C. Keough Leave a Comment

November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. If you’ve ever thought “what if”, then this is your month to make that novel happen.

The Writing Bug

Four years ago, on November 1st, I started writing Dying in Dallas. The main thing I’ve discovered since I published it in August, is that practically everyone wants to write a book. Whether it be a novel, a collection of short stories, or a children’s book, many people dream of creating something with words.

I had been one of those people for at least twenty years. In early 2016 I retired early from a career that spanned two and a half decades, and my husband and I moved from the USA to Ireland. But then I found myself asking, what now?
